Ways to Join Indian Airforce as Pilot:
There are three ways to become a pilot in the Indian Airforce.
- NDA (National Defence Academy)
- CDS (Combined Defence Service)
- AFCAT (Air force Common Admission Test)
The NDA and CDS Examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission twice in a year. A candidate can appear for this examination. here is the Eligibility Criteria and Selection Process of NDA Examination and CDS Examination.

Selection Process:
A candidate will have to appear for the Written Examination which is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. A Candidate who will clear this phase they will appear for the SSB Interview and then Medical Examination etc. In an easy way the selection would be like:

- SSB Interview
- Medical Examination
Once you clear the Selection Process and get selected in the Service. You can opt for the Indian Airforce and Choose Flying Branch to be a Pilot in the Service.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Candidate must have physics and mathematics in 10+2.
- If you are in class 12th. Then too you can apply.
- Candidate must have 60% marks in PCM in 12th board.
- Age Limit: The Age of the candidates must be between 16.5 to 19 yrs old.
- There is no relaxation has been given to any caste or religion.
- Age limit is the same for all the categories.

Selection Process:
The Selection of the candidates will be done in three phases and it is mandatory to clear all three phase of selection. A candidate will appear for the Written Examination conducted by UPSC and SSB Interview and then Medical Examination etc.

- Only Indian Citizens are allowed.
- You can apply for the CDS examination only after graduation.
- If a candidate is in the final year of his graduation can also apply for this.
- The candidate should have passed 10+2 with physics and mathematics and having degree in any discipline from any recognized Institute.
- Candidate must have at least 60% marks in his graduation.
- Age Limit: The age of the candidate must be between 19 years old to 24 years old.
- There is relaxation has been given to any special caste and categories.
Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT):
Selection Process:
The Selection Process of the candidate through the AFCAT is done through the Examination. A candidate will have to clear the three phases of the Selection process which is:
- Computer-Based Online Examination
- AFSB Interview
- Medical Examination
Once you get selected in the Service, You can opt for the Flying branch in the service. The AFSB Interview is completely the same as SSB Interview there is no difference.

- Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply.
- Candidate must have Graduation degree in any discipline with 60% marks.
- Candidate appearing in the final semester or year can also apply.
- Candidate should have physics and mathematics in class 12th
- Candidate below the age of 25 must be unmarried before the commencement of the course.
- Age Limit: The Age of the candidate must be between 19 years old to 24 years old.
- There is no relaxation has been given in age to any caste or categories.

How to Join Indian Airforce as a Pilot:
Once you get selected in the service as an officer. You would have three options to join the Service. These streams are:
- Flying Branch or Stream
- Technical Branch
- Ground Duty Branch etc.
